General Joe Hooker was a son of Massachusetts, so on June 25, 1906, they unveiled a statue of Hooker on horseback at the statehouse. There was a parade of veterans, and many of his former officers, including Dan Sickles, gave speeches in his honor. Hooker passed away in 1879.
